Advantages of SHGs
Despite advantages, it has some problems in its functioning.
Patriarchal mindset does not allow women to come forward.
The deposits are not safe or secure, as it works on mutual trust.
There are less number of banks in rural areas.
There is a need for monitoring cells to be established for SHGs across the country. The government should create a supportive environment for the upliftment and development of the Self-Help Group's movement.
