School Innovation Ambassador Training Program (SIATP)
Why in News?
On July 16, 2021, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Tribal Affairs Minister Shri Arjun Munda jointly launched the ‘School Innovation Ambassador Training Program’ to train school teachers and provide quality education in tribal areas.
About the Program
The innovative and one of its kind training program for school teachers, aims at training 50,000 school teachers on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, IPR, Design Thinking, Product development, Idea generation among others.
The programe has been designed by the Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education and AICTE for school teachers based on its “Innovation Ambassador Training Program for Higher Education Institutions’ faculty members’.
The training will be delivered in online mode only.
Role of Innovation Ambassadors (Trained Teachers)
Help in creating the culture of innovation in their respective schools.
Mentor the teachers and students of their respective schools and nearby schools.
Provide support to other schools as resource person.
Spread the message of innovation and startups among the students and faculties.
Act as an evaluator for Idea Competitions at national level.
Act as a mentor for the National Level Program of Innovation and related activities.
Other Related Initiatives
National Education Policy, 2020: The 10+2 structure of National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986 was replaced by a 5 + 3 + 3 +4 structure. It will include 12 years of schooling and three years of Anganwadi and pre-schooling. It was approved by the Union Cabinet on 29 July, 2020.
NISHTHA (National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers Holistic Advancement): Aims to train and equip teachers to encourage and foster critical thinking in students. It was launched on 21st August, 2019.
DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) It was launched on 5 September, 2017.
Samagra Siksha Scheme: It was launched in May 2018 to ensure equitable and inclusive education.
Adi-Prashikshan Portal - It was launched on June 16, 2021. It aims to act as a central repository for information on all training programmes conducted by Tribal Institutions across the country under Adi-Prashikshan – Training for Tribals initiative.
