47th G-7 leaders Summit 2021 took place in hybrid format (video conferencing + limited on site presence) form June 11-13, 2021 at Carbis Bay,Cornwall, UK.
It was hosted by United Kingdom (UK) as it has the presidency of G-7 for 2021.
It is grouping of major wealthy powers created in 1975. It consist of United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, Italy and France, Plus the EU.
Russia also joined the grouping in 1998 and it became group of eight i.e. G-8. However Russia was evicted in 2014 after its annexation of Crimea.
Originally it was established as a vehicle for leading industrial democracies to discuss global economy, however now it has expanded its scope to issues such as peace, security, climate change and now Covid Pandemic.
G-7 accounts for close to 60% of global net wealth and is based on shared values of pluralism and representative government.
