Why in News

  • On 16 April 2022 (on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti) Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 108 feet statue of lord Hanuman in Gujarat's Morbi via video conferencing.

About Hanumanji Char Dham Project

  • Under the project, four statues of lord Hanuman are being built in the four directions across the country.
  • The first Lord Hanuman statue was set up in the north in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla its construction began in 2008 and was completed in 2010.
  • The 108 feet statue is situated under the periphery of Jakhu Temple on Jakhu Hill in Shimla. 
  • The second statue of the Hanumanji Char Dham project has been set up in the west at the Ashram of Bapu Keshavanand ji in Morbi Gujarat.
  • The third statue of Lord Hanuman is being built in the south in Rameswaram. The work on the third statue has been started. 
  • The fourth statue of Lord Hanuman will be established in the east in West Bengal.
  • Festival of Hanuman Jayanti
  • The festival of Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman, the ardent devotee of Lord Rama.
  • The festival is celebrated on full moon day during the Hindu calender month 'Chaitra'.

  • PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) launched in 2014-15.
  • Swadesh Darshan Scheme launched in 2014-15.
