Arunachal Pradesh Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan
Why in News
On 1 April 2022, Arunachal Pradesh State Biodiversity Board inked a pact with WWF India to develop the State Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (SBSAP).
The SBSAP will be developed through multi-stake holder consultations and a participatory approach.
The announcement is the first of its kind by any state government in the country.
The SBSAP will align with the post - 2020 global Biodiversity framework and the Pakke declaration.
● SBSAP will be showcasing Arunanchal Pradesh's participatory conservation initiatives and will be looking to develop an action plan that will be inclusive in nature and will be looking to secure nature's contribution to people.
The plan will also be reflecting the people as well as the state's aspirations toward sustainable development.
What is Pakke Declaration
Pakke Declaration or "Pakke Tiger Reserve 2047 Declaration on Climate Change Resilient and Responsive Arunanchal Pradesh" was adopted by the state government in November 2021.
The declaration focuses on low emission and climate resilient development.
Post - 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework
It is a new framework released by the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in the year 2021.
The framework comprises of 21 targets for 2030.
It will guide actions worldwide through 2030, to preserve and protect nature and its essential services to people.
