  • On 10 March 2022, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur Addressed the third inaugural session of the National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF).

What is National Youth Parliament Festival

  • National Youth Parliament is an innovative programme to equip youth with the understanding of parliamentary procedures.

More about National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF)

  • National Youth Parliament Festival is based on the idea given by the Prime Minister in his Mann Ki Baat address in 2017
  • The 1st edition of NYPF was organised in 2019 with the theme Be the Voice of New India and find solutions and contribute to Policy'
  • The 3rd NYPF was launched at district level on 14th February 2022 through virtual mode in which more than 2.44 lakh youth participated. This was followed by State Youth Parliaments through virtual mode from February 23 to 27, 2022.
  • Overall 87 winners (62 female and 25 made) from district and state level YPF participated in NYPF 2022.
  • Three final winners gets cash prizes of rupees 2 lakh, 1.5 Lakh and 1 Lakh accordingly

Objectives of National Youth Parliament

  • To provide a platform for the youth to voice their thoughts opinion and dreams of the country and enable the youth (in the age bracket of 18-25) to voice their concerns and local problems on a platform to be heard.
  • To publicize the various schemes and activities of the government to the youth in a attractive interactive platform and to inculcate the spirit of democracy through civic engagement and dialogue.
  • NYP encourages the youth to engage with public issues, understand the common man's point of view, form opinions and articulate efficiently and also promote informed and data backed decision making abilities among youth. 

Salient Features NYPF

  • All recognized educational institutions are eligible to participate in this programme.
  • Kishore Sabha for the student of Class IX to XII
  • Tarun Sabha for the students of Under Graduate and Post Graduate level
  • The registration for participation will be done by the educational institutions through the web-portal.
  • To ensure effective implementation of the scheme, the participating institutions may invite an MP/ex-MP/MINA/Ex-MLA/MLC/Ex-MLC or a Person of eminence as the Chief Guest who would oversee the performance of the Youth Parliament sitting of the institution.
