One Station One Product And Kavach Technology

Why in News

  • On February 1,2022 ‘One Station, One Product’ initiative was announced in the budget 2022-23. 

OBJECTIVE

  • The popularisation of the 'One Station-One Product' concept for the Railways, to help local businesses and supply chains for promoting their businesses so they can grow more.

What is One Station One Product?

  • The concept, based on the successful 'One District, One Product' scheme, has been introduced with a focus on promoting the supply chain of local products using the Railways. 
  • This has aim to making each railway station a promotional hub.
  • Focus will continue to be placed on enabling ecosystem and providing stable marketing platform to improve income, local employment, skills and livelihood.
  • Railways will develop efficient logistic services for small farmers and SMEs, besides taking the lead in integration of postal and railway network to provide seamless solutions.
  • The  ‘One Station One Product' now acquires further significance and relevance in the context of the pioneering “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan” Campaign.

Significance

  • This will help develop more efficient logistics for farmers and agri-enterprises.
  • It will also present unique regional products to a wide audience as railway travellers, passing through the stations.
  • To realize the true economic potential of Rural India and align it with the clarion to make VOCAL FOR LOCAL.

Kavach Technology

  • It was also announced in the budget session 2022-23.The safety of the Indian trains is to be increased through the KAVACH technology.

What is Kavach technology?

  • It is an anti-collision technology and totally indigenously developed. 
  • It is SIL4 certified that means there is the probability of a single error in 10,000 years.
  • AIM-The technology will help India to achieve its goal of Zero accidents and help in as well as capacity augmentation of the Indian Railways.
  • The technology will stop the train as soon as it detects another train in the same track within a specific distance. Also, the technology will stop the train if it identifies manual error.

Other benifits-

  • The technology increases speed of the trains.This leads to delay in journey time of the passengers.
  • Sometimes the train is forcibly slowed down even if it has no stops in the station. Such delays can also be avoided with the KAVACH technology.
